Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate’s Life For Me

Standard

Pirates are the craze at our house right now. It all started with a Lego “Pirates of the Carribean” DS game, then Cayden started learning to play one of those songs on the piano, then Jackson realized that we have the soundtrack on our ipod (and thus blasts it through the house always) and finally- a long, lost sword was “found” in the coat closet from where I’d put it in time-out years ago. Let the pirating begin!

Jackson and Dylan decided to have a Lego sword fight. Between every parry they’d have to stop and repair their swords. It was pretty cute 🙂

Although they both built good swords, Dylan’s was the biggest (which of course makes it the best) and so by the end Dylan was building and repairing both swords!

It was a good afternoon of fun though and I think they liked the audience that gathered!

When Jackson found out that we had the music on the ipod he hooked up the speakers and spent the morning listening to ALL of the songs, over and over. Then…. he snuck the ipod and speakers into his backpack and took them to school. I say “sneak” but really he didn’t think it was wrong. He didn’t turn them on AT school, but as soon as he was out of the school he cranked up the music and was the COOLEST person that ever walked home from school. I can just picture the strut that goes along with pirate music blasting from your backpack.

One Saturday I had to pull out the Jack Sparrow wig from our costume bucket. It lasted for about 30 seconds.

It was cool but too itchy.

Plus, cool pirates wear robes. So, if you come knockin’ and we don’t get to the door- it might just be that our pirate music is cranked just a little too loud!

  2. LOL, I love the costumes. I love the hair! Kid costumes are the best. I think it’s so funny that they found the forgotten sword that had been in time out all this time – kinda like Christmas all over again.
